SOE Live EQNext videos – A Collection

It seems that no amount of directories in my bookmarks will make it so I can actually find the one link I’m looking for, in any sort of timely fashion. I thought I might collect the latest group of links I keep wanting to revisit in a nice, graphic manner:

The reveal and all the panels of EQNext at this years SOE Live.

EQNext

The new Feerrott!

This is as good a place as any to tack it up and this way my efforts might even be useful to someone else as well.

First of course the big reveal:

EverQuest Next Worldwide Debut: Part 1

It’s general introduction and a look at the past first with Mark Tuttle, Executive Producer at Sony Online Entertainment and then with John Smedley, President at Sony Online Entertainment, until about 12:28. Then follows the live performed sand shadow play by Joe Castillo. That was something I enjoyed much more a few view later, when some of the reveal excitement had settled.
The actual reveal starts at 26:30 with a super excited Dave Georgeson, Director of Development, SOE walking onto the stage.

Part 2 pics up where we left off in part 1 with the (uncannily like BioShock Infinite‘s Elizabeth-looking) mage, Gelina and her mostly modest wear. I have to say the chest peep-hole is going to give her one seriously weird tan mark, running around in a desert like that. Imagine wearing a scoop-neck after that afternoon…

EverQuest Next Worldwide Debut: Part 2

If all of that was new to you I would suggest breaking for lunch for a few hours. That’s a lot to chew on and there’s much more to come. I think what grabbed both Ark and I the most was the part about a “Life of Consequence” (Part 2, 10: 55) but all 4 of George’s Grails captured our imagination (starts on part 2, at 03:59).

You can see a lot more amazing-looking concept pieces at the  official EverQuest Next site.

Next up there is the classes panel, hosted by Terry Michaels, Senior Producer EQN and with the following panelists: Michael Mann, Class and Combat Lead, Steve Klug, Technical Director, Aaron Carlson, Lead Animator, Michelle Schade, Principal FX Artist and Darrin McPherson, Lead Designer.

Next there is the lore panel, very important given the total revamp of the world (which btw I’m all for!). Again hosted by Senior Producer Terry Michaels and attended by Jeff Butler, Creative Director, Darrin McPherson, Lead Designer, Steve Danuser, Senior Designer and Ryan Barker, Senior Designer.

While I like the updated, more feline look of the Kerran I have to agree with criticism point

I like the updated, more feline look of the Kerran, but is that WoW armor?

And finally there is the Q&A Panel (I thought there was a world panel too but I can’t seem to find a video of it. Will update if one turns up!).
Again hosted by Terry Michaels and attended by: Rosie Rappaport, Senior Art Director, Jeff Butler, Creative Director, Darrin McPherson, Lead Designer, Steve Klug, Technical Director and Dave Georgeson, Director of Development.

I will be looking around for more videos to add so expect this post to see some editing and updating over time. Please throw links in the comments below if you have a good EQNext video bookmarked. The comment may not allow you to post right away but I will get your message immediately in my inbox!

A big thanks to Curse for hosting panel videos from SOE Live on their YouTube channel!
