Mass Effect Screenie of the Day – Turian Cruiser, Turian Fangurling

One of the less mentioned details of the Mass Effect universe are the starship designs. Especially the individual style designs of the different species. I’ve mentioned the Destiny Ascension before as an example, although a gross outlier, of Asari fleet design. But the running joke with the Asari is that they haven’t fought a war in space in millennia.

The Turians, on the other hand, are the tacticians of council space and the most militarily active council member race. In effect, the space police, galactically speaking, of the council. As such it makes sense they would be who humanity first encountered and subsequently traded missiles with. in the First Contact War in 2157.

Outwardly different from us, the Turians nonetheless are the species that most resemble humanity highlighting in their differentness the best and worst in both species. Therefore it makes sense that Turian ship design more than any other looks like something we might have come up with in the shipyards of our own blue planet. And my inner teenager still yearns for some version of a Meritocracy on our own planet. Tell me who’d be President of the US under those conditions?
